Matt’s career has been devoted to guiding clients through complex tax issues while helping them achieve their financial goals. Early in his work as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he saw that many tax clients were underserved by their financial providers. This insight led him to create a practice focused on delivering objective, holistic advice. What began as integrating financial services into a CPA firm has evolved into a specialized wealth management practice centered on tax-intelligent strategies for accumulation, management, distribution, and transfer of wealth.
As a CPA and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), Matt combines decades of expertise in tax strategy and financial planning. He works closely with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families to develop personalized plans addressing critical needs such as retirement planning, risk management, estate and incapacity planning, and wealth transfer. Known for his ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable guidance, Matt ensures clients feel confident and prepared for the future.
Matt earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and his Master’s degree from the University of Houston. He also holds the Certified Specialist in Estate Planning (CSEP) designation, underscoring his commitment to comprehensive planning.
A multi-year recipient of the Avantax Elite Award and the Five Star Wealth Management Professional Award, Matt has been recognized annually since 2007 as a “Wealth Magnet” by Accounting Today, ranking among the nation’s top CPA-led wealth management firms. He previously led a regional peer-to-peer educational program for Avantax, sharing best practices and fostering collaboration among advisors.
Beyond his professional work, Matt is an active volunteer at SMU and serves on several non-profit boards. He and his wife, Stacey, live in Dallas and have two children.
